Windows 7: CTB-Locker Problem. Help please From Sr. Citizen

OEM Windows 7 Ult (x64) SP1

Hi, Bob:

I will defer on the specifics to the more qualified forum members re: malware/ransomware removal

But I was just curious -- are all 3 of these posts for the same issue?

If so, is there a particular reason why you start a new thread each time, rather than replying to the original one?
(The reason I ask is that doing so makes the story harder to follow.)

Perhaps the forum mod team may collect all of the posts into one thread, to reduce clutter and provide more organized response/advice.

Best Software To Automatically Prevent CTB-Locker Being Installed ?

As so often, I think I posted this as a Reply rather than a new message.
Let me try again:

Will be getting a new PC, and am very worried about getting infected, again, with CTB-Locker.

Is there any general concensus as to what is the best avail. software to automatically prevent it from getting into the PC, in the first place ?

Spyhunter ?
MalwareBytes (the paid version) ?

Or,... ?

Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit SP1

Skip Spyhunter. Malwarebyte's Premium is good.
You could also try CryptoPrevent places policy restrictions on loading points for ransomware (eg.CryptoPrevent), preventing your files from being encrypted

You need to pay attention to what you download and the links you click on. You also need to keep your computer and programs (especially Antivirus) updated! If you use peer2peer..... File-sharing technology is a popular way for users to exchange, or "share," files. However, using this technology makes you susceptible to risks such as infection, attack, or exposure of personal information.

I'd say HitmanPro.Alert 3 if you don't mind a paid product: HitmanPro.Alert - SurfRight
I've been following the development and here's a note why they decided to make their CryptoGuard a paid feature: HitmanPro.Alert Support and Discussion Thread | Page 164 | Wilders Security Forums (includes a comparison between free/paid)

But if you're mainly worried about browsing I recommend taking a look at Sandboxie. Programs running in Sandboxie live in a virtual environment and can't modify anything permanent. The free version is fine.
It's also possible to define what programs are allowed to run in a sandbox, what programs are allowed to access the Internet. Set block or read-only access to drives/folders etc.

If I had to choose only ONE security related product I would choose Sandboxie before my anti-virus and others

Anyone else interested in Star Citizen?
Posted something about this earlier, but worded it the wrong way and had it taken down. A bit too much like an advertisement. Anyway, I still think it's worth mentioning here at least and I'm wondering if anyone else has it on their watch list. If you don't know it's a space sim from the creator...
