    Ghost in the machine

Hi Folks. My periodical (Active PC) recommended Ghostery as a way of blocking trackers and it worked very well up until last week when suddenly it kept closing IE11. I removed it and downloaded the newest version but the same problem occurred. I contacted them but they ignored me. Anybody have any advice for me?
ps. until I discovered it was Ghostery at fault I was unable to access the internet and it dawned on me that I really should have a super powerful virus and malware scanner on a usb stick for occasions such as these; can anybody recommend a tool or tools to use under such circumstances?

What happens if you reinstall it but choose not to block anything?

Hello Callender. No, I haven't tried that. The reason was that one minute it was fine and had been for months, the next minute it's causing problems. I will try not blocking anything though and see wha thappens; thank-you.

Ghostery for IE11 hasn't been around for that long and I've read people having problems with it. But others say it's working fine.

Your problems might also be related to any IE11 changes like turning Protected Mode on/off after installing Ghostery.

If you can't solve it then try asking in this thread: https://getsatisfaction.com/ghostery...et_explorer_11

I don't install browser extensions in IE. They work much better in Firefox
