Alright I'll setup the autoscan and try another full system scan with comodo.
Alright I'll setup the autoscan and try another full system scan with comodo.
I was using a different machine when I posted that screenshot - sorry for the confusion. I just wondered if you scanned drives from the context menu. Here's what Comodo (right click on a drive) entry looks like:
And here's how to scan a drive via drag 'n drop using Comodo's GUI:
As for the auto scan USB command line mentioned by Cottonball - that's for another program CCE Comodo Cleaning Essentials.
I think the main thing to consider at this point is disabling autoplay entirely: See Option One - Step 3:
AutoPlay - Enable or Disable
Then when you plug in a drive - scan it before using it.
As Callender has post. I also recommend to never use auto play.
By the time you try to scan it's to late. The infection has got into your entire system. It only takes a few m/s.
Oops, posted the wrong one...got carried away reading the CCE info...
To my understanding, if you have the following folder:
C:\PROGRAM FILE\COMODO\COMODO ANTIVIRUS
And, there is an exe called: CAVSCONS
If so, it is used on a command line scan.
Supported switches are:
[drive]
[file spec] - * and ? wildcards are supported
/D = Attempt disinfection
/R [filename] = Create report
Example : To scan all PowerPoint files on drive X:, and create a report called ppoint.txt on the C: drive, the command would be:
cavcons X: *.ppt /R=c:\ppoint.txt
I suppose disabling autoplay seems be the rather safest, will try that.
I would like to start from the beginning.
Never hook any thing up to a computer you don't own without the owners permission. That includes computers in stores. Their is no way of knowing if some clown has done the same thing just to infect the store computer.
No one has the right to hook any thing to a computer they don't own or have permission to do so.
Never hook anything to your own computer until it is scanned for security. Even if it is from a friend. A friend could have a infected external and not even know it's infected.
