    Comodo Free Anti Virus ?

    Hello,

Just heard about Comodo Free anti virus product(s).

Probably shows my not keeping up with things more than anything else, but, frankly, never
    heard of them.

How long have they been around ? Who are they ?

How does their anti-virus free programs compare to AVG, Avira, etc. ?

Good for malware ? How does it compare to MalwareBytes ?

    Much thanks, as always,
    Bob

I use COMODO CIS & Firewall but it will not get recommended here on Seven Forums as it's tricky to configure and isn't user friendly.

Properly configured it does indeed block 100% of zero day (unknown) threats but the user needs to know how to identify false positive detections and what to allow when prompted.

It's possible to disable certain features in order to avoid lots of pop ups that require a user to make a decision.

If you want a guide you can find one here:

How to Install Comodo Firewall | Gizmo's Freeware

Edit: As far as I know the free version has the same features as the pro version but without the dedicated help and support that's available in the pro version.

Re: Malwarebytes. I don't use pro - only free. It never detects anything.

Well the sigs alone will kill as they have large sized sigs used in the Comodo AV. I'd prefer a lighter Av such as Avast Free / Avira Free or the now popular 360 product (but am not still using it for personal matters). But the firewall of Comodo is great. That is if you are interested to using another firewall other than what yo are using now. I am using it with HIPS installed and enabled. Though it's a bit tricky to setup it will grow on you as you use it. Callender's links are worth the try.
