    Virus list

    Hello

So it happens that I have one PC which is not used AT ALL. It has Windows 7 in it.
So I thought why not download viruses to that PC and see how it reacts.

I have very weird request. Anyone knows any website which lists malicious software/webpages?

I am aware that I ask for any websites which lists viruses/malicous webpages etc

If my PC fails It will be my own fault

PC has freshly installed Windows 7 with no personal files inside whatsoever, so I don't risk loosing anything

I know that it sounds crazy, but I was Linux user for almost 3 years, and never had any problem with viruses, so I want to see what kinda viruses there is in our deep world

Few years back I was watching channel on youtube where guy would show you any possible virus on pc, he was using windows xp in virtual box, but i can't find that channel anymore

Mate I would be VERY VERY careful in what you are intending to do especially if you have any other machines in a network.

I cannot honestly see why you should want to do this as I think it rather foolhardy because of the sheer complexity of malware out there now you could end up with stuff embedding itself in any part of the machine and I suspect your modem etc

Frankly use the machine for some testing of security suites for example it could prove far more productive than deliberately infecting yourself for the hell of it and possibly rendering the machine unusable.

If you want to try my idea out this is where you can get some freebies to try

The list of viruses, PUP's, malware and all the other bad things would be in the millions.

    Take a read here.

I believe that helping you to obtain viruses, for any purpose, would be in violation of forum rules. Others reading this thread may have malicious motives. Remember that this is a public forum where posts can be read by anyone with an Internet connection for years to come.

The real danger in Viruses isn't in what you see, but what you don't. Malicious software goes to great lengths to hide it's presence, even from sophisticated software designed for that specific purpose. Many are very successful. A computer could host large numbers of viruses with sign of their presence.

I believe that many of the problems caused by viruses are not intentional. Many of these problems are due to interactions with other viruses and incompatibilities and bugs in the software. It is not like the creators of such software can receive bug reports from their users (victims).
