MSE will not install after a bad uninstall

    Hello,

For a few days when MSE ran a full scan it would always get caught up in the same place. So, I got the idea that I'd uninstall it and reinstall it. I uninstalled and rebooted. When I got back the icon was still on the bar. It is red and x'd out. When I click it says it is off and my computer is in danger. It will not turn on. It does run a scan. I looked in program and features and it is not listed. I tried to reinstall it, and now there is an error that it can't be reinstalled. Please help.

*edit to provide more info - Prior to this when a scan was failing I'd stop the scan. It wouldn't stop and when I tried to close the icon, it wouldn't.

    Thank you.

I followed the instructions that I could. There were things they wanted me to delete in the registry that weren't there. I restarted the pc and the mse icon wasn't on the bar. The notification flag then told me to turn it on, so it's still here. I tried to install anyway, but I couldn't.

Malware or a virus (that MSE can't deal with) has possibly stopped MSE from re-installing.

Can you scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan?

    1. Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.

    2. Click the button.
    3. For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)

    5. Click the button.
    6. Accept any security warnings from your browser.
    7. Check
    8. Push the Start button.
    9. ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
    10. When the scan completes, push
    11. Push , and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
