Error Message - 80070645...Trying to Reinstall MSE

    I need help...

I'm trying to reinstall MSE (W7). It had been working perfectly until I starting receiving error/failure messages last week.

I have removed MSE using all the instructions provided on this website and others.

I keep receiving Error Message 80070645 when I try to reinstall MSE.

Any help (other than the most basic of offerings) would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Kevin

Let's see if you have a virus or malware that could be causing the problem.

I'd like you to scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan
    1. Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
      ESET OnlineScan
    2. Click the button.
    3. For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
      1. Click on to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
      2. Double click on the icon on your desktop.
    4. Check
    5. Click the button.
    6. Accept any security warnings from your browser.
    7. Check
    8. Push the Start button.
    9. ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
    10. When the scan completes, push
    11. Push , and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
    12. Push the button.
    13. Push

    Hi Jacee,

Thanks for your offer/suggestion to have the application run on my machine.

(Note: I'm a bit of a novice when looking into detailed items....please have patience with my questions...)

    • Should I close all the applications/windows that are currently open on my machine?

    • Will the application create any new/additional problems with my machine?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

It seems that the application has stalled...

    Here's what it looks like:

It is usually best to close as many other apps as you can before doing stuff like this.

These instructions have been used many times before without any problems.

The website seems to have changed from:

    Code:
    http://eset.com/onlinescan
    to

    Code:
    http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner-popup/
You can copy/paste/use the second link or wait for Jacee to confirm that the new link works well with those steps.

ESET has a good reputation. You should have no problem using their scanning tools.

edit: I see that you found a solution while I was composing my post

edit2: the 1st link no longer returns a 404. It redirects to the 2nd link that I posted.

Should I delete the quarantined files?

    Manage quarantine?

    What's next?

    Thanks!
