    how to get rid of virus' that remain in safe mode

    hello,

    this is the first virused PC i can't heal! most of the problems faced in regular mode (no right click, most services turned off, no anti-virus programs allowed to run) are still present in safe mode. never had that problem before...what is the process to make a bootable CD/DVD that will give me a real 100% safe mode environment to run the programs needed to clean things up? this is a windows 7 O/S.

    thanks for the windows 101 info.

    You can get Defender Off Line using another computer. Download it and put it on a USB thumb drive. Install the thumb drive in the infected computer.

    I don't understand this question.

    will i be able to run off those virus programs off my thumb now?

    Layback Bear,
    The OP is asking about Step two, sub-step 4 of the tut that you linked to.

    Thanks UsernameIssues.

    It's been a long time sense I used Defender Off Line but the best I my memory all I did was;

    1. Download Defender O/L and updated it. Copied it to a usb flash drive.
    2. Install the flash drive in the computer I wanted to scan and changed the boot order to the flash drive first, booted and completed the scan.

    I hope I have answered the question.

    Yes, it will run and it will already have the latest* list of definitions.

    *latest as of the time that you made the CD/DVD/USB media.

    Not that you need a connection - but:
    If an infection is preventing a connection to the Internet, then you might have a connection to the Internet while Window Defender Offline is running. Even an wireless connection might work.

    You can get another opinion by using another offline scanner: https://www.raymond.cc/blog/13-antiv...t-rescue-disk/
