I'll add that aswell. I've heard alot of good reviews of F-Secure too.

Yup, you get what you pay for.

I don't really like avast! because i never had good experiences with it. Avira on the other side is one of the best antiviruses, it detects many viruses and is just good overall, a con with Avira is that it takes a long time to scan.

What ever anti virus program is used I recommend using Malwarebytes Premium along with it.

I have never had any problems with Comodo Internet Security on my windows laptops.... use a mac at home and would be using a mac for a laptop as well if the weather radar programs I need would run on os x... but my new windows 7 laptop with 8gb of ram seems just as stable as my mac

I wouldn't dismiss Norton 360 out of hand. It has good protection ratings in some reports and I have had few problems with it. I'm using it on 3 (& 3 generation) systems. The down side:
    1) Support is quite poor IMO.
    2) Like other anti virus it could cause BSODs for some configurations but I haven't experienced this.
    3) Some claim it is a CPU/memory hog. Again I haven't experienced this.

It is a turnkey system which may appeal to many users.

Well my experiences with Norton hasn't been good. I have experienced a ton of lag and when testing it with viruses it only picked 95/200. Those samples was from the week before or before that.

I did install Comodo on my main laptop and it lagged, with lagged i mean i couldn't access normal mode i couldn't do anything. So i had to go to Safe Mode to uninstall. My friends also had Comodo and they had fairly powerful laptops but not as powerful as the specs said, but when i uninstalled Comodo it was fast as it should be and why in the world do you put an antivirus on a mac? Macs doesn't get malware.

    Cheers for your thoughts guys.

    Laith,

What uninstallers did you use for Comodo in the end?

I know what you mean. My laptop feels very light right now. I've just installed Malware Anti Exploit, have MBAM when needed and am using a virtualisation software called Toolwiz Time Freeze with WebofTrust and Vtzilla.

I'm still weighing up having a heavy AV vs using my light Toolwiz Time Freeze. After a restart my system returns to as it was before my session so an AV seems almost redundant seing as you have such powerful free online scanners such as HerdProtect or ESET online?

    Cheers

I didn't use an un-installer, i used the control panel. That is NOT recommended. You should run this tool if you want to remove Comodo products.

I don't use any anti virus on my mac desktop...no need too. but on this laptop which is a gateway ne56u-11 with the b950 2.10 processor and 8gb of ram Comodo seems to run just fine. never liked Norton or mccaffee antivirus programs. a friend of mine uses avast and says it is decent as well.

nobody mentions Hit man Pro. I used it next to SAS and mamb.

I think it is really good and it was cheap (a special offer for a year ). I am almost at the end of the year subscription and I wander if I should renew it or do an other one for a year, perhaps Malware anti malware premium as you all say it's so good ......
