Hi:

Yes.

Neither MBAM Free nor SAS Free is an anti-virus.
They are anti-malware tools designed to provide layered protection against threats often missed by an anti-virus (AV).

Having said that, neither MBAM Free nor SAS Free provides real-time protection.
They are only manual, on-demand scanners that can only REMOVE malware that has already made it past your AV onto the system.

If you want complementary, real-time protection to help PREVENT malware infection, you would need the paid version of MBAM or SAS or Emsisoft or another of the paid, anti-malware applications.
(My personal opinion is that MBAM is a much more robust anti-malware application than SAS. The only "advantage" of SAS is that it detects non-malware tracking cookies, which MBAM does not.)

Thank you,

Is Microsoft Security Essentials + MalwareBytes Anti-Malware a good A/V solution? What about Norton 360 or Kaspersky? Whether i pay or not isn't a factor. I would like an AV with a good UI and as high detection and real-time protection rates as possible.
