    Security Suites

    Hello-

I've been using Avast Internet Security suite for 3-4 yrs. now and would like to move on to a program that

is perhaps a bit lighter on the system, and a bit better in detection.

I looked at Bitdefender, however I have read that it doesn't play well with Opera browser, which I use

exclusively, and do not want to change. The other product I am looking at is the Kaspersky Internet

    Security suite.

Could I get some opinions and recommendations, please?... Thank you, in advance, for any opinions and/or

    suggestions.

    Regards-

    tim

    MSE is certainly light weight.

Panda is a bit heavier, but more aggressive.

I've used many different programs, and believe through experience that Kaspersky Total Security is the best you can get. You can even get an older version, then migrate to the new one if you want to save cash.

It's not resource-intensive, and you can change how effective the protection is (so if it is too resource-intensive for your liking, you can reduce the depth of the scan).

Norton and ESET should be avoided, never seem to work as effectively as other suites and cost too much for their function.

I've never seen McAfee detect as many threats as Kaspersky...

    Hope that helps,

    Mark

No, and no.... but, thanks for the input. My query was with regard to Security Suites, firewall inclusive.

Thanks, Mark...we're on the same page. The Avast firewall is perfect, as is the Kaspersky. I'm leaning toward

the Kaspersky Internet Suite, even though a bit pricey in comparison. Avast support simply sucks, and they

will deny every issue presented to them.

Of note, ESET does make one hell of an online scanner, but couldn't agree more regarding your assessment

of their other products, and especially Norton.

I think we'll simply purchase the Kaspersky Internet Security 2016.

Hmmm, that source seems peculiar... that being it disagrees with every other test comparative out there.

The other considered sources pretty much indicate that both Bitdefender and Kaspersky products are the

highest rated in all of the benchmark categories. Bitdefender's a rather thrifty prog, whereas the Kaspersky

    is a bit pricier.

Nonetheless, we certainly appreciate your input- Thanks!

    I agree Tim

Also, Kaspersky's support is simply the best...

OK, you guys...this will more than likely turn into a facsimile of the great Chevy, Ford, Chrysler debate.

I've been with Avast for 8 yrs. now, and in my opinion as far as freeware goes, there is no equal to Avast in

that venue. However, when stepping up to the subscribed Internet Security suite, Avast starts

falling short. The Avast firewall is superb, and highly user definable.

Another situation that peeves me is that Avast is like going to a fancy restaurant, where everything is

ala carte, like a salad being a 'pay me' option . I believe their top tier Avast Premier 2016 is an

    'all in' prog.

For the last 4-5 yrs., BitDefender and Kaspersky have dominated the Security Suites at all the major

review sources. BitDefender support sucks, like Avast's, in as much as they tell me it works fine with the

Chromium driven Google Chrome, but they decline to commit as to efficacy with the Chromium driven

Opera. Chrome is heavy, and they messed their start page option up a couple of years ago, whereas

Opera has that really slick Speed Dial feature, is way more nimble, and has better security features.

Since we all like looking at pictures, I've included some attachments for informative purposes.

First up is the Avast menu, followed by Kaspersky, which for the extra $5 you can get the Total Security,

which has some cool features... Actually, due to the size of the Kaspersky product advertisement, we'll

simply post the link here first-
