    Virus removed but some programs wont start anymore

    I recently removed a virus called clientmonitor.exe. Not sure exactly what its done but it prevented malwarebytes and avarst from starting as well as system restore, I managed to install panda antivirus which removed it.

    The problem is even though its gone all the programs it stopped from starting still wont load?

    I've uninstalled and reinstalled them but still no success, I'm guessing its deleted some system files.

    Hi:

    It sounds as if the malware damaged the system, as is often the case.

    Full cleanup and repair might require "custom" work with individualized scripts prepared by a trained malware expert.
    If @jacee or another local expert doesn't respond here in this thread, you might want to seek a bit of free, expert help at one of the many reputable computer disinfection fora that specialize in this sort of cleanup/repair work.

    <just a suggestion>

    You could try a repair install, we have many excellent tutorials here at the forums, heres one that may help : Repair Install

    You may also try a system file check which could repair any corrupted system files. : SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    I did a sfc /scannow with the windows 7 disk at boot but that didnt help.

    Luckily I found an antivirus called GridinSoft Trojan Killer which managed to pick some other stuff up that the others couldn't find and now everything works again.

    Strange as this antivirus got some pretty bad reviews but It was only one I could run at the time that fixed the problem.
