    MSE Updates

Something I found has changed the way I get MSE Updates.

For a long time I got MSE Updates when searching Windows 7 Updates.
MSE Updates were included as optional.

It no longer works that way on my systems. Probably a KB I have installed.
I have to do a separate search using MSE to do my searches for updates for MSE.
MSE Updates do not come when doing a Windows 7 Update check.
That is not a problem as long as one knows things have changed.

I would suggest one checks and see if their update method for MSE have changed.

    Hi,
Yea DavidE posted this a while back that simplified the definition updates away from optional or inside mse,
Which both were sketchy at best at actually working
How To Fix Microsoft Security Essentials Virus Definitions Updates

Pretty much one of the main reasons I use Panda now
With the update system so messed up why depend on a security program that uses it

I just checked my laptop, I still get them in Windows Update,

    MSE Updates-mse.png

That has all updates installed minus the Skype & Silverlight.

I do all my updates manually on everything.

Not installing a KB should not of changed the normal method of getting my updates.
Like I said it's not really a problem for me. I just check both ways.

If by chance someone is as dumb as me they might not get all their MSE updates unless they verify like Derek did that they do still get them using Windows 7 Updates.
It's only been this way on my computers for a couple of days.

My only concern is that if by chance it has happened to others they might now know it and miss out on some MSE updates. Or maybe I'm the only lucky one.

Yeah, a lot of things should not happen. I just threw that out there as a possible.

Well it could be. Computers do strange things at times. A couple of days from now the computers might be back to normal. One never knows.

    Update if anybody cares.

My Grandpa computer went back to getting MSE Updates with Windows 7 Updates. I changed nothing on the system.

Ghost and Gremlins for sure. My newer system still doesn't get MSE Updates using Windows 7 Updates.
I have not changed the setting on either computer. I still get MSE Updates using MSE.
Not really a problem but it is strange.
