now im about to test out AVG and see if that eats up my boot up time. so far my pc boots up in 80 seconds total with avast -.-
Try Microsoft Security Essentials. I haven't noticed any difference in boot times. That's not to say it doesn't affect it at all, just little enough for me not to notice.
Strange. I run Norton Internet Security 2010 and it has not effected my boot performance at all.
I'm using Symantec Endpoint anti-virus and firewall, my system boots in around 45 seconds and the protection through Symantec rivals the big boy offerings like NOD32 and Kaspersky.
It contains many of the same components of Norton AV, so all I can suggest if you are having boot delays is that your hardware or memory isn't optimised, or there are software or driver errors in play.
Brian, can you see this? I had to sign in...

You must have a valid copy of Windows and you need to have Windows Update (in Action Center) turned on. I have mine set to 'notify me' so I can choose when and what updates to install.
wow. are you serious? i installed this and...well its FREAKIN AWESOME! my pc boots up in about 1 minute XD
but it looks too basic....i like it. too bad its in beta but since its free im using it right now
no more avast.
