Zone A acted as firewall. Zone A quit running

Zone A acted as firewall. Zone A quit running except in name only after BSOD and subsequent recovery. It slowed the system to a crawl (but said "you are protected")

I removed Zone and added AVG. Also use MS firewall. System works pretty good now.

Anyone have an idea as to why?

    Conduit change

That explains an age old problem on my wife's computer. It kept starting up with "Conduit....something' Could never get an explanation but could get past it. I'll check her latest new laptop to see if it's still opening.
    Thanks

Zone Alarm is owned by Checkpoint. Its installation file does offer to install a toolbar that is made by Conduit but you do not have to install the toolbar.

Your wife's computer may be infected. If so, see link below for tutorial to remove Conduit.

Conduit Search is a browser hijacker, which is promoted via other free downloads, and once installed it will add the Conduit Toolbar, and change your browser homepage and default search engine to search.conduit.com
