HELP - possible hack/ransomware concern
Ok - so despite my knowledge of never to click links in suspicious emails - that's just what I stupidly did today, The email was supposedly from Yodel about a missed delivery & ironically I currently do get a fair lot of deliveries through them so did wonder what I'd missed. And despite the email not making the most sense in that it said to click on the link to get my shipping # for them to redeliver I stupidly (STUPIDLY) clicked the link. So of course it opened up a blank page in Firefox which was the point when I just thought OHHHHH!!!!!
So at this stage 6 hrs later I've tried to do what I can to figure out what if anything has got into my system but haven't seen anything obivous. However, I know many of the beggars only show themselves after a restart.
I have Avast on but that's really my only defence. Windows is kept fully updated & I use its Firewall. But I ran Malwarebytes without any hits. What else can I do at this point to try & protect my data? I was actually debating reinstalling Windows on Sat but could bring that forward to tomorrow as I've most of my backups done - would that work to prevent anything happening? I know the scam could just be a keylogger which I presume Malwarebytes would find, but I'm just more concerned about any kind of ransomware.
Any thoughts?
