    Export (and import) firewall rules?

Assume I want to backup (for later restore or for import on another Win 7 computer) all the current Win 7 firewall rules.

    How do I do this?

    Where are they stored?

In Registry or in a file?

    Hi:

Disclaimer: I do not personally use Windows Firewall....

...but perhaps this tutorial might have some helpful advice:

Windows Firewall Settings - Backup and Restore
(There does not seem to be a tutorial for this here at sevenforums, but the associated link takes me to the one at eightforums.com. So I assume this also works for Win7.)

A quick Google search turns up several other, similar tutorials at other computer fora.

    Hope this helps,
    MM

Everything said there is equally valid for Windows 7 too, nice tip.

I would add, that procedure ends up creating a .wfw file that describes the firewall configuration, that's the file you should backup. It's worth noting that it contains the entire configuration, not just the rules (such as enabled status, block/allow by default, log settings and the like).

When restoring, it overwrites the entire configuration and the rules, completely replacing with that's contained in the backup.
