Windows 7: Security Essentials definition updates fail

Security Essentials definition updates fail

Security Essentials definition updates fail - others do not - according to update history and event viewer.
Yet MSE lists the date of the last definition update and indicates that the tool is up-to-date.

Reinstall MSE and definition updates succeed - no failure messages - for days, then again begin to fail.

Any one observe the same behavior, and have a fix? Until recently MSE ran fine for years.

Mine works perfectly, as long as you can click on update again and it works or a 3rd time and it works, don`t worry about it.

Security is nothing to settle short of with updating
MSE is poor to begin with so it might be time to switch to a third party av that updates flawlessly
Avast free is popular along with Panda free I switched have have not looked back :)

I update MSE several times a day manually. Every now and then their is a problem. MSE can't find the server. Malwarebytes and Super Anti Spyware updates so I no I'm on line.
All I do is reboot and the problems goes away.

I'm guessing but it seems at times MSE can't find my internet connection. Rebooting seems to fix that problem.
I really haven't done a lot of research on the problem because it happens so seldom and it only takes 40 seconds to reboot to get things working again.

Thanks for the comments. Definitions download, but the install fails. MSE updated successfully after the latest remove/install. Time will tell if it continues to do so.
