    Which AV?

    Hi,

Which AV is recognized by W7 action center?

Tried Avast Free NO, Panda has issues when a back is restored, though recognized.

Avira, though is the only that I know is recognized and running on my machine, but is a hogger....not a big fan?

    Thanks.

    Hi Alex,
W7 Action centre was (2/3 years ago) having some problems indentifying that a 3rd party AV was installed, but i believe they issued a patch so that it reports correctly now, so once your fully updated the AC will report correctly.

You may however have a secondary problem -- remnants of the install.
You will need to use the removal tool from the Authors site, not the progs/features remove option.

    Thanks Roy.

Care to clarify, remnants of AV?

If AV, using removal tool shall uninstall the AV?

Yes, if you have been experimenting with several AVs, you could eventually run into performance issues or even BSOD.

Leftovers and remnants (even after the program has been uninstalled the normal way), especially DRIVERS, can cause problems with other security applications.

For many AVs a routine uninstall from the Windows Control panel is only the first step.
One needs to run the vendor's own, specialized removal tool (sometimes from safe mode), in order to get a clean uninstall.

Also, some security applications (such as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware) are not AVs. They do not report to the Windows Action Center.
I wonder if that might also be the case for some of the newer, "cloud-based" AVs???

    Hi @ThrashZone,

It is the firewall issues, with the AVs I have tried, they are work fine, action center displays a message when clicked and seen in depth, see the firewall message...

Hi @ThrashZone, like in the shot you posted,

Last time I restored a backup displayed Virus Protection as OFF and not ON.
