AV products are often difficult to remove. There is a good reason for this.
In recent years malware of all forms has become very sophisticated. Malware authors are no longer just the part time hacker. They are very professional, highly motivated, and well funded. They know the popular AV products very well and would very much like to disable them if possible. As a result AV products must take what might seem extreme measures to defend themselves. This often has the unfortunate but unintended consequence of making them difficult to remove by users. Often special procedures or software must be used.
