@torchwood I did post the information on BleepingComputer (Windows 7 Infection creates mysterious folders that regenerate when deleted - Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs), but haven't gotta reply yet.

Those mysterious files and folders are a result of the CyberReason RansomFree program that you have installed. See here and here. Nasdaq did a fine job cleaning you up. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just follow the instructions in the link he provided for best security practices and you'll be fine.

I had this exact same issue on my work laptop, and the help desk had no clue - until I found an article on the company web page saying they deployed Cybereason software a few months ago. Apparently they didn't think it was important to educate the Help Desk on handling these calls. Bottom line: These are benign "canary files" created by Cybereason anti-ransomware software.
