Windows 7 Pro 64-bit - USER PASSWORD Reset - with Admin Access

    Hi all,

I hope someone might have an idea on how to proceed here. Im working in a company where the IT department is run by the 3 Stooges and hence the overall "service" is more like a free theater show when interested in wasting time.

Having said that, I have my work laptop at home with full Admin Access and my own user profile. The laptop is a HP 640 G2 which was set up via fingerscan for me to log on (into the user profile). Since this laptop (which i also dislike alot for various reasons) stopped accepting the fingerscan (and subsequently fingerscan turned out to be fully broken hardware wise) Im not able to log into my User Profile. The password that has been set up for it was done once as out of requirement when we got them but never used and hence forgotten.

The IT department has no clue or idea how to fix this remotely but I have the full access of the computer with admin rights, im able to go manually into my user profile folder and so on, so my question is, how can I reset the password?

In theory, I should be able by going into Control Panel and User Accounts but my user profile is not on the same domain as the admin access and the userprofile is not listed within the user accounts.

Admin is based on the computer domain name (like lpw1234-/admin) and my user profile is on the "office" domain, which by default required just my username with no previous domain name (like office/user).

Could someone tell me how I can reset the user password for that profile?

    Thanks alot,
    Alfonso

Sorry we cannot assist with resetting a password as we have no way to prove ownership. In your case the simple answer is to let the company either restore the device to company standards or remove the locked profile, This is all of course at their discretion they may even agree to reset the account password if they feel there is a benefit to the company in this.

Rule 6 Here applies 6) No discussions of hacking someones system, network, password, etc.

Just to avoid any confusion - I have the full access to the my own user profile on windows/users because I have the admin rights to it .. i can access every single file... its just the windows login for it.

No trick or hack or whatever.... i have the full admin rights to access it, but how i reset the password?
