    malwarebytes

I have been using the free version of malwarebytes for a long time.
Running it now generates the "hijack.autoconfigurl.prxysvrrst" virus.
Does anyone else have this problem?
What other free program like malwarebytes can I replace it with.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Are you saying that malewarebytes is infected with a virus itself or are you saying that malwarebytes is reporting a virus infection "hijack.autoconfigurl.prxysvrrst" ?

If the first I would uninstall malwarebytes fully and re-install and run a full scan, If it's reporting a Virus follow the prompts and let malwarebytes delete the infection

    Thank you for responding Barman.
The latest Malwarebytes download is only free for 14 days.
The virus is generated each time I run malwarebytes.
    No where else.
If I paid the exorbitant amount for all the programs I use it
would cost me near $1000. Way to much.
What program would you suggest to replace Malwarebytes?????

There are a number of malware packages that are available for free, including Malwarebytes after 14 days the trial reverts to a more limited free version You could look at Avast free, or bitdefender free as good options but as far as I know the free versions are not as usable as the commercial ones and require more user action to use there are a multitude of "free antivirus/Malware packages - it's a case of trying several (fully remove from machine after trial, see website for removal tool), until you find one you feel comfortable with.

As for the cost of software it's the same as anything else you have to use what you can afford

Are You getting browser redirects and/or adware popups ?? According to The Malwarebytes Site hijack.autoconfigurl.prxysvrrst is an adware program that'll come packaged in free software. You could also try running SuperAntiSpyware Free as well. If it's in just in one browser say Chrome or FireFox and you can't get it out. Before running any "stronger" solutions you might consider uninstalling that browser and its extensions and reinstalling after cleaning your temp files. As a last resort you may have to run something like rkill or the others at the bottom of this page: RKill Download

To OP ... Did you let Malwarebytes delete it? Did you remove MBAM?

It you redownload, after the trial you will have the same progy you have now. During the Trial you have access to a lot of real time stuff that is not needed for on demand scanning.

I am fond of Bitdefender free.

You might also try HitmanPro as a second check.

Stats: windows 7 pro 64-bit, Eset Smart Security, Sandboxie, Sweepi

    Thanks guys for responding.
Malwarebytes and mbam are no longer on my computer.
I let malwarebytes quarantine the virus.
I checked for any remnants of the virus and I think I have got rid of it.
I will give each of your suggestions for another malware program a look see.

I was having some problems with Malwarebytes a few months back so I rolled my Premium version down to the Free version for a while. At that same time I was able to get a 1 Year Free subscription to Zemana from a Giveaway on another Forum. After an upgrade it appeared I had 2 Years of Zemana Premium. Last Month I disabled Zemana and went back to running the Premium version of Malwarebytes. I decided to upgrade the Zemana definitions and run a scan a few days ago and found I only had 20 Days left of Premium where I should have had 8 Months left or possibly 20. While Zemana seems to be an option as it's both very fast and light on resources, I think I'd stick to the free version until they can do a better job of knowing how long a subscription is valid.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Premium both active at the same time. They seem to get along with each other.

That being said; if Malwarebytes finds something, just let it quarantine it.
Use your system for a while and if their are no problems, clean out the Malwarebytes Quarantine. During that time you can check on line and see what the infection is/was.
It might give you a clue how you got the infection.

The Free version of Malwarebytes works quite well for a "On Demand" program.
Of course any "On Demand" program doesn't stop infections from getting into your system. It only finds infection after they are in your system and if possible removes them.

Some other good free "On Demand" programs I use as needed are.

    Eset Free Online Scanner.
    Super Anti Spyware.
    AdwCleaner by Malwarebytes.

Remember to also make Backups/Clone of your system just in case.
But only make them when your system is clean.
For that I use Macrium Reflect.

Of course "MSE" is always free and the other security programs I mentioned are free or paid for. Your choice.

MWB seemed to have ' lost ' my payment. Said they didn't receive my Premium payment a few months ago. So I guess it took them that long to find out payment was months late ?
I paid the payment but not going back to look for it then argue with tech who is hard to contact. . So now I'm looking for protection to go with MSE.
Any suggestions from anyone will be helpful. thanks.
