Protecting online privacy of OS

Hi everybody,

New user here. In my opinion, Windows is good when it's offline. But this time, I need to connect my Windows 7 computer to the internet (think of this post as associated with Win8 too).

I know roughly how to disable telemetry. However there may be a lot more. Temporary files, indexed stuff, all junk Windows contains and programs and Os itself that will send something that I don't want it to send.

It's just a question of privacy. Unfortunately, Bill doesn't respect it and same is for Apple and many others.

How do I disable everything possible ('msconfig' for services+programs for example), and components of the Windows 7 (and 8 by the way), so it will leak less as possible? It will be a brief connection, about 30 minutes.

I don't work for KGB!

Thanks

Hi Bingooo,

I suppose the base question is
after all this time running Offline why do you need to go online???
Also are you running W7 or W7 SP1

Anyway -
"telemetry" recieved by MS is mostly due to Updates, especially after the Get W10 debacle.
(there are some scheduled tasks on the original install that provide MS with less data)

If you start-up in Safe Mode with Networking - NO updates will be AUTOMATICALLY installed
Does this provide a solution to your problem?

I need to go online because Video editor software wants to connect to be activated, so it fights with piracy of software.

It seems that Safe Mode lets only few programs to run as they stop with errors - this doesn't work as needed.
So I run Win7 SP1.

I'll look into tasks. Not sure what else can be done though. Every program that's not made by MS should not be present in any autorun, + Windows defender On.

I prefer that there is No such agency:)

Thanks

In case of misunderstanding, I prefer not to notice such things. Just wanting to make sane settings, and don't want anyone steal my holiday photos (stupid but true).

Are you that important that somebody would want to steal your holiday photo's?

While I understand your point, no one has provided a proper solution. Think of the OneDrive embedded and activated on a system.

What do you do to protect ur privacy online.
Well, I'm not highly concerned about it, but it would be nice to see how others do it. What I do is simple,... AV, FF5, Cyberghost, and Common Sense.
