MSE is updating through Windows Update

How can I get MSE to update the daily virus definition on MSE and NOT through Windows Update? The daily Windows Update available prompt is getting annoying. Thanks.

You could disable automatic updates and then manually run them when it is convienient for you.

    I hope this helps!

On my other PC, MSE updates automatically within the program.

Wouldn't be surprised if MSE uses WU to power its update engine though

Just ignore it. The notification will soon disappear and after some time has passed the MSE update will be applied all by itself. Cool, yes?

I hate to say this, but MSE is only a baseline scanner. You'd want to run something like Bitdefender Free or what ever. And at that, definition-based anti-virus software won't stop polymorphic malware like ransomware. Check out Sandboxie for your browser.

Windows always shows MSE updates in Windows Updates, this is quite normal.
