Error 8007000E on updating Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool

From my googling and from an unsuccessful chat session with Microsoft I see little hope of fixing this recurrent error. Is there a workaround which might avoid the need for the WMSRT? Third-party software?

I don't know if this will help but Brink has just posted the KB890830 update for Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - Nov. 13.

The thread can be found here => KB890830 update for Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - Nov. 13.

    I hope this helps!

After trying various manoeuvres suggested on the Internet I now have a situation where Windows Update tells me that Windows is up to date. But "update history" shows that installation of Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for November 2018 and for February 2018 has failed. These have "(KB890830)" after them. "Hotfix for Windows (KB947821) has also failed. Which should I believe? I am not a technician, only a user.
