UAC suddenly applied to an old EXEcutable file

Since 2012 I have used discontinued "CubicExplorer v95.1" (portable version)
An alternative (tabbed) File Explorer program/application
I downloaded the file before the developer and the website disappeared in 2012

About a week ago CubicExplorer.exe now requires UAC approval.
The EXE file properties > Security settings are beyond my expertise
(and yet a duplicate of my portable version (made about 12 months ago) does NOT show UAC

? How can I remove the UAC condition thank you
"Run as Admin" does not help

Most likely it's caused by the compatibility settings of that particular executable (assuming both your copies are the very same version). Look in the compatibility tab and check that the "run as administrator" option is unchecked there.

Another possible option, failing that, is that the program itself is asking for elevation, based on its own settings.

File and folder permissions are irrelevant for UAC prompts.

I have had THIS "Cubic Explorer" download since 2012, why it would change now is beyond me.
There have been no updates since the developer disappeared in 2012.

    GREMLINS ?
