Why would MSE start taking a long time to do a quick scan?

It used to take about 2 minutes to do an MSE Quick Scan. A few months ago it started to take about 6 minutes. Both scanned about 72000 files. Yesterday it took 15 minutes and only scanned 40000 files. I haven't changed anything (to my knowledge) since last week when I did a quick scan. I have Windows 7 - 64 bit. What could be going on?

I don't use MSE myself but I thought I would see if I could find an answer for you!

I found this thread which may be of some use to you => MS Security Essentials "Quick Scan" Takes Hours.

I hope this helps!

MSE Taking Longer to do a Quick Scan
I do a quick scan once a week with MSE. For the last 3 weeks it's been taking around 6 minutes to do a quick scan. Previously it took about 2 minutes. It is still scanning about the same number of files. What's changed?

MalwareBytes Takes a long time to do a Quick Scan
Not quick in my opinion. Admittedly I have a very old version (1.75.0.1300), but that is the last version that worked on my system (Windows 7 - 64 bit; subsequent versions would freeze). It used to take only a few minutes to do a quick scan (which I do once a week), but lately it has kept...

Win 7 taking an extremely long time to start up, if at all
Like the title says, I have a windows 7 dell laptop and it takes an extremely long time to startup. It will either go to a black screen or login, if I get to Login I'll choose the account and it will go to a black screen and eventually turn off after an hour of a black screen. Repair takes a...

Recycling a movie from my harddrive is taking long long time.
Why is this. Like 10 minutes plus and it still says recycling. It should only take a second. Is it bad to let it continue at its own pace or should I restart the PC and try it again?

Now when I boot the computer up the Windows logo comes, and then it stays there for 20+ minutes before the system is booted up.. I have tried with other versions of Win7...
