    Download MSE 32 bit?

I did a W7 virtual box sytem, and would like to put MSE on it. I tried a couple download links, one from filepuma, the other I don't remember. In both cases, MSE would not complete the first definition update. any place to get a reliable, working version? Other free AV's are too heavy for this system.

Figured it out. I needed the SH-2 signing updates or whatever they're called. All set now.

Thanks! I took a chance and got it from somewhere else, but it's uop and running fine. Same version, so it's good to go. I know MSE isn't the best AV, but this system is bascially an archive. The beauty of it is, I don't have to restart my computer and boot my old W7 from an old HDD, which is slow to boot and run. This virtual system is quite fast, on a SSD, and using K-meleon browser. It's working so well I'm tempted to make it my daily driver. but that's not why I did it. If it was powerful enough to run my music software, it would be extremely tempting!

you can improve its performance, based on your specs, by moving to 64bit home premium, 32bit can only use 4 of the 6 gb ram you have installed

Something I didn't notice earlier until you mentioned the amount of RAM:
Windows 7 SP1 64-bit is listed in his specs.
If that's correct, why install MSE 32-bit?

The reason is, number one, it's just a test, at least initially. 32 bit is fine for now. the machine came with vista 32 bit OEM, which I initially upgraded to W7 32 bit with an official MS upgrade disk. At the time I was really new and didn't know the system was 64 bit capable. Once I figured that out, I upgraded to W7 64. Later re installations of W7 had to start with vista, or the upgrade would not be accepted. I have done new installs that way ever since. Though I think it's possible to directly install 64 bit, and activate by phone. Which I will probably do at some point, just to tinker around some more.

I was following old links, most likely. When they didn't work I figured MS had stopped making it available.

    hi

the product key for your 32bit can also be used on 64 bit as you have discovered.
have a look at this tutorial re clean install after using upgrade disk
