Malwarebytes Free - Does It Still Exist?

I tried updating what I thought was Malwarebytes Free. Now all I encounter is opportunities to upgrade to a fee based version.

It appears there is still a 'free' version to check a machine. That is what I really want to do.

Do I need to uninstall the existing program, download the latest version, check the machine, and then delete again?

This seems even more complex and full of nags than Avast free.

    Thanks

Seems it runs fully functional for a couple of weeks. Nagging frequently. Then it stops the "real time" protection". From then on you can just run it for manual scans.

I didnt notice a way to avoid the first two weeks of "real time" accompanied by seemingly constant nags.

    Thanks - I Didn't Think I Wanted a Free Premiium Trial

I stopped here. You seem to suggest that I should open it (without my email) and that it continues to run after 14 days of nagging. Is that correct?
To me it seems that each time I use it I will need to update the malware definitions. Does that not 'restart the clock?'

Also, can I run Windows Defender and Avast simultaneously or can only one run at any time? I got these error messages which I transcribed:

    Windows Defender
    This program is turned off
If you are using another program that checks for harmful or unwanted software, use the Action Center to check that program's status
If you would like to use this program, click here to turn it on.

    The link leads to
    Windows Defender
This program is blocked by group policy. For more information contact your system administrator. (Error Code: 0x800704ec)

Mine is a stand-alone personal desktop. I am the SA and I don't have any information.

    thanks

That is what I did. You have to put up with it for 14 days ( or maybe it is 30 days , cant remember exactly ) till it reverts to what you wanted in the first place.
