    Great point
We need a compiled list of all the completely- compatible free anti-virus/firewall programs that currently work with W7 without having to use Vista compatibility mode.
That will at least, give all of us a base to build on as to what AV app currently works with W7 with no special install/run requirements.:)
The key word here is free.
Someone with just a little time please review this forum and post a list of the freecompatible AV's available. Remember, free only.
We can discuss paid AV apps after final release of W7...agreed???

avg free, free download, one of the best i have ever used for windows, period works flawlessly with my build of windows 7 and i did not have to change it for vista compatability, after install just run as admin, thats it

I'm using Avast also. A little tidbit though it's probably known. Windows 7 doesn't support Norton products older than 2006 or version 7, 8, 9, or 10. Hopefully that gets fixed.

I usually run version 6 of Norton and it will run but the auto protect won't work and you have to run it as an administrator to download updates.

Vipre Anti-virus 2009 is what i use. Works great, ran it against AVG and it saw 4 trojans AVG never found after a deep clean. also updates once a day and has a much larger risk definition package it downloads. (more stuff?) idk works great though. uses almost NO RESOURCES
