I beta tested McAfee Total Protection and getting ready to beta test McAfee Total Protection 2010, in the interlude, I am beta testing Norton AntiVirus 2010.

Didn't like Avast, too clunky, Antivirus should be easy to use and not too overwhelming.

AVG turned out to be a lemon as of late, missing several viruses.

NAV 2010 is nice, but they only offer a 14 day subscription for the Beta. So far it is much lighter than any previous version of NAV and has a performance monitor built-in. Had full tech support for an error, entered online chat, tech support rep connected to my machine, though it wasn't necessary, got the reports he needed, was very pleasant, and yes this was on the Beta, so whomever paid for it, err sorry.

McAfee Total Protection is great, offer a 180 subscription for the Beta, can install on multiple machines, tells you if a machine on your network is not protected.

I am a new customer of NOD32 and it's been about 3 weeks of smooth operation with my Win7. Seems to be very light, effective, and NO false positives thus far.

I'm sure that the longer you use it the more impressed by it you'll be

What about the firewall for ESET SS 4?

My desktop finally gave up the ghost so I decided to upgrade to 64-bit while I was buying a new computer. I'll also be upgrading to Windows 7 when I receive my CD next month.

I’ve been looking for an AV & ESET has definitely caught my eye but I keep hearing complaints about the firewall for Smart Security. Would I be better served buying NOD32 and using an independent firewall like Comodo?

    Thanks.

I am having extremely good success with Microsoft Security Essential. It is growing on me. Other than that beta, I use Avira.

I've given up on 3rd party firewalls. I don't need one. NOD32 and windows firewall tweaked the way i want/need serves me well

My subscription for Beta 2010 runs out December 31 2009. Last time I spoke/emailed with support people they said they want to have it retail by about the launch of "7".
