I found instructions for making SEP 11 MR4 SP1a finally work with Windows 7 client. I did a test DL from the newsgroups of a file that I was reasonably sure was an impostor malicious file and sure enough, SEP caught it upon decoding.

I tried this as well but got a BSOD every hour or so and removed SEP. I even had to roll the settings back to pre-SEP to keep it stable. I am going to try this again after I make an image of the laptop.

I started with AVG 8.5, tried to install Norton 360 ver 3 and it trashed my system 4 times or so and I had to run a system restore to recover (nasty!). Went back to AVG and it worked fine for a while until yesterday, Win 7 reported that there was an errror in that AVG was not passing on the proper data format to the windows security center (don't what the hell all that means). So I got Avasti antivirus and am running it along with AVG for firewall protection. I really do like Avasti's interface and speed.

I use Avast Home edition on Win 7 64bit. Seems to work just fine; except no boot time scan for 64-bit OSs.

AVG seems have some problems with windows7. I uninstalled it just now, I will try avast. If it is not so good, I will let my windows7 run without anti-virus.
