Does the Malicious Software Removal Tool RUN if I Switch Users?

It seems to be taking a long time to complete.
Its approaching 64 hours right now and the Green Bar indicates about 25% still to go.
My wife uses the System and switches to her Desktop quite often.
On occasion, she leaves the System on her Desktop over night.

    Same here.
It's not needed, so I uncheck and hide it.
