    Location for Microsoft Security Essentials

    Perusing Microsoft's site for updates I find is a nightmare.

    The easiest and straight-forward way to download an update is to navigate to Just a moment... who retrieves the updates for you to download. You can search the site for anything you want/need and the chances are it will be there for you to download. My MSE update version is 1.427.566.0.

    However, I do stress that this is a legitimate site, not a crack site.

    I have done so many times but it rarely updates. I check with Microsoft and realise how far behind I am with the updates. It appears other people seem to have this issue as well. In short, just a quick way to update if you feel you are 'left behind'.

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\WinHttp]
    "DefaultSecureProtocols"=dword:00000a00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\WinHttp]
    "DefaultSecureProtocols"=dword:00000a00
    Enable TLS 1.2 support on Windows 7 . GitHub

    Update to enable TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 as default secure protocols in WinHTTP in Windows - Microsoft Support

    Microsoft Update Catalog

    To apply this update, the DefaultSecureProtocols registry subkey must be added.
    Note To do this, you can add the registry subkey manually or install the "Easy fix" to populate the registry subkey.
