    Microsoft Security Essentials, try it before you let anyone else discourage you away from it. :)

    Go for somthing better Avira.. Because MSE is belongs to Microsoft, its doent mean that it a great anti-virus.. there are awsome free anti-virus program's out there.. if you want overall good av go for avast.

    if you use avira to get rid of advert nag screen (7 x64)
    1.Start-> Control Panel
    2.Administrative tools-> Local security policy
    3.Click on Software Restriction Policy-> Action (at the top)-> create new restriction policies
    4.Right-click additional rules (on the right side)-> new path rule
    5.Click Browse and navigate to C:\Program Files(x86)\(Avira)\AntiVir personal\ and double-click avnotify.exe
    6.Set the security level to Disallowed-> apply-> ok

    removing avira splash screen on startup
    1.Open regedit and navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\wow6432node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    2.In the right pane double-click avgnt and add /nosplash at the end of the path (ex. /min /nosplash)

    No one said it was good because it was from Microsoft, I'm saying its good because it was developed that way.

    Though thats my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

    LOL, I second that :)

    And TBH, who wants to be messing with the registry and gpedit to get their AV to be quiet. (nice tips btw senthil)

    MSE is a silent assassin.

    I don't care who it was developed by, as long as it works. It does, its free, and its light-weight.

    Care to continue this or have I made myself clear enough?
