How to clear Optional Updates from list

I have 30-some-odd "Optional Updates" from Windows 7 that are Languages Packs from all sorts of languages I'll never use. I don't really want to install them, since they are 50mb each, and couldn't install them since they fail each time I try. Is there a way to tell 7 to stop offering them to me? I don't see a way to clear them off the list of optional updates.

    Thanks

I know there is an option to hide the updates. I have no updates available to install ATM, but I know it's there. Just look at the "Restore hidden updates" button. Unless someone else posts in, I will post back when I have updates to install.

If you right click on an optional item in the list you'll see the ability to hide it - if you click that menu item the optional update will change to gray text and will not appear in the list anymore (you can use the "Restore hidden updates" link to get them back later if necessary).

Unfortunately, I haven't hidden anything on this PC so I can't attach a screenshot - hope this helps.

Highlighted them all, right-clicked and hid them all, awesome, thanks! If I ever learn Arabic or Chinese, I'll be sure to go back and install these updates... :-p

Does not work for me. I have one optional update that will not hide. I can hide it, but it continues to re-appear. Microsoft Silverlight
