Apparently the word was already out rather fast since the download is going slowly. Sounds like their download server is a little busy at the moment.

I'm having problems with avg 8.5 and windows 7. It gives me an error when I try to open AVG "The application has failed to start because it's side by side configuration is incorrect ...."

    Any ideas ?

Are you surprized? I'm not! I've been running their free builds for several years now and seen great results on different versions. The initial run of AVG 8.0 on 7 saw a freeze up of 7 when first seeing it installed and the initial restart required.

Since then not one issue but that was still 8.0 not 8.5 at the time. I suspect the 8.5 build will simply go on here as usual without a glance.

I usually use AVG but decided to give Avast a try as it seems to be flavour of the month. I am now back to using AVG. Avast's media player looking(gimmicky) interface is very ordinary compared to AVG's imo, and it had stopped starting with Windows even though it was still in the Startup list.
That was just the excuse i was looking for to get rid of it .

    Yay AVG!

I had Avast on here shortly "a few times" and simply ended up dumping it while others simply go crazy for it. The only thing really noticed at one time was something like an antiphising filter before IE 7's release.

No thanks! The AVG Security toolbar is one toolbar I'll use when browsing with IE. That along with seeing Grisoft buy out and update the old reliable Ewido now adding that flavor into the 8.0 and now 8.5 builds.
