Its asking me to register. So I clicked on the Register button and filled in the required info. Still its asking for registration. So I filled the online registration form and received the key in my email. Now when I enter the key, it says that the key is invalid. How do I activate it?

Another beta refresh is here [5.0.314]

Also, seems the updating issue is with the firewall, which they now recommend to clean install the AIS instead of updating from the previous version.

First the blackSOD with the .314 AIS update, and now blueSOD's with your aswNdis.sys driver. I'll try the regular .314 AV, but come on Avast! I'm starting to get annoyed.

It's no contest. Avast outperforms AVG in every category, including detetection.

Dinesh, don't worry about registering until they get the registration servers online. If you look at the date, your copy will expire in 2038. The 30 days it says means nothing right now.

Very nice AV. I'm planning to replace Avira AntiVir Premium with the paid version of this antivirus when it's out.

I dont see 2038 anywhere. It says that it will expire on 25th Jan 2010.

Avast - sensitivity modes, what is best?

I have been using Avast since 2003 and absolutely love it; it gets better and better with each version upgrade. But: Can someone tell me what the ideal Sensitivity modes should be set to? Mine are all set to 'normal' (default)? I have absolutely no problems with this as Avast always intercepts viruses with great aplomb. Just wondering, that's all> Does upping the mode slow down Avast or your pc or what? Thanks, and such a great forum.

Also, I'm getting a little bit worried. My version (free) is showing as 4.8 (home version) and yet I am reading here of versions 5.0.... How can that be when Avast reminds me that a new version is available (you get the green notifiction box as opposed to blue) which i duly updated. Strange .

Hello Manhunter, and welcome to Seven Forums.

The 5.0+ versions of Avast are the "beta" versions of the new one that they are working on. It looks like the image posted above your post. There is a download link for it as well on the first page if this thread.

Setting the "Sensitivity" to a higher level can increase the chances of getting more false positive alerts, but it will also increase the detection level to help weed out malware as well. I like mine set to high, but if you get to many false reports using the "high" level, then you can can always drop back down to "normal".

    Hope this helps,
    Shaw
