Not sure if this has been covered but the new version has an annoying Gadget which can't be closed unless you go into the Control Panel>Programs & Features and click Change on Avast, then uncheck the gadget. You can also do this during a Custom install.

Other than that, works great and especially like it's boot scan in 32 bit. Otherwise on par with MSE.

Yeah, was covered before - https://www.sevenforums.com/security-...ml#post1256746

They were supposed to have fixed that gadget closing issue a while back in a prior update, but maybe the behavior returned recently. Dunno.

I don't ever use the gadget so I just uncheck it during installation.

Sandbox is a nuisance - turned the thing off - much better.

Agreed, turned it off too. It's aimed at the lowest common denominator.

I've only had the auto sandbox popup once or twice in months for me.

Course I guess it all depends on how many oddly named programs you try and run.

Could always just add to exclude list whatever you're running that makes it go off so much.

Are you talking about the free version, or paid?

Hmm. I use PDF-XChange Viewer program myself. Haven't ever had the Avast auto sandbox popup with a pdf file for me.

Could always post what the deal is on their forums I suppose. They're usually pretty good on getting issues fixed.

Nah, no big deal for me, Avast is but a layer of my security :)
