I didn't know a scan uses bandwidth while running a scan...Is it checking for the latest definitions before scanning ???
Newer versions of Avast do have some features such as Streaming Updates that can be disabled and should reduce "internet bandwidth use".
The default to check for new Virus definitions files is 4 hours, but that can be changed to check less often to help reduce bandwidth.
Version 8 also has a Program Update checker that would use bandwidth, but can be disabled...
The comodo firewall I installed shows in & out internet traffic and last time I ran a scan it was lit up.
I'll look again, I may be mistaken.
I was mistaken, it doesn't.
As far as the streaming updates, I know that will but that's cool & expected.
Thanks for posting back with that info!
I have Avast on some systems, and if there are issues I'd want to know.
Just don't want to see mis-information affect anyone's personal choice on using an AV.
