Normally, I'll take a chance on betas, even Flash, but not my security programs. A Guy

I should have mentioned I install them in a virtual machine. I am kinda obsessed with them. (Ok I really really am) I have almost every windows version in a vm + some Linux distros.

Plus, I love to have fun with viruses and removing threats, etc.

I wish the pop-up window in the lower left-hand corner of my screen would go away. It's an ad disguised as an update notice. Anyone know a way to make it stop?

Open Avast> Settings> Updates> Details> Update options> Show notification box after automatic update

    Mine is on the right

Also using A guy screenshot, you can choose the popups setting and set settings there. I only have virus warnings and other threats set to 20 seconds. Otherwise everything else is 0

Also A guy is correct in saying the popups are always on the right. I am wondering if its really avast you are seeing in the left corner? Unless you have the task bar set to the left of your screen....

OK, first of all, let me correct my dyslexic problem. The pop-up is in the right-hand corner of my screen! I have not registered, so maybe that's why they keep bugging (pardon the bad pun) me. I also suspect that if I register, I'll be able to access the screenshot A Guy posted. Is that correct? I cannot find any screen that looks like that.

I did download avast from their website, not CNET or another site.

Post a screenshot of the main Avast page you see.

    Settings upper left right :)
And yes, you have to register eventually, but not to access settings as far as I know. A Guy

Did you click on Updates on the left to get to the page I posted?
