The sounds are located in the following location.

    C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ENGLISH\

    They are as follows:
    • hover.wav
    • malfound.wav
    • press.wav
    • ready.wav
    • suspic.wav
    • virfound.wav
    • vpsupd.wav

To replace these in your sound scheme, right click the speaker icon in the notification area of the taskbar and select Sounds. Scroll down to avast! antivirus.

    Attachment 40182

Alternatively, right click the Avast! icon in the notification area of the taskbar and then click Sounds.

    Attachment 40184

Ensure that Disable avast! sounds (highlighted) is unchecked and then click Settings... This will open the Sounds menu at the correct location - see first image.

Click on each category in turn and browse to the above location. Select the correct sound file for each category and check by clicking on Test.
    • Automatic VPS update vpsupd.wav
    • Detection of suspicious message suspic.wav
    • Mouse over the simple user interface button hover.wav
    • Other malware found malfound.wav
    • Program end ready.wav
    • Program start ready.wav
    • Simple user interface button pressed press.wav
    • Task done ready.wav
    • Virus found virfound.wav
I would like to report that this works as it should.
    Thanks again Dwarf.

erm, just updated AIS to new version over .259, rebooted, gave me a nice black screen with just a cursor. Restarted again, same thing. had to uninstall from safe mode, then get the new version download link from the site and manually install. Still think you have some problems with updating from within previous version there Avast.

Are you using just the AV or the internet suite?
