Might have to download the setup from the main Avast website, and launch the setup to update the program, or uninstall the beta one, if you're using it, and install this one. I couldn't update from the within the program (5.0.504) said the file was broken.

I love Avast, when I had my XP desktop the first thing I did was get rid of the "Great God Norton" and install Avast, did the same thing again with my new 7 desktop! Those of you that haven't updated you don't know what you're missing! They've made big improvements! You can now scan your mail and both the quick and full scans are amazingly fast! I couldn't believe how quick the full scan was done!! LOL!!

I have Itunes on my desktop and there is no problem whatsoever with it running. They have one of the best help forums and are great at replying quickly....I would tell them about it.

Thanks scorpion, here is the trick (i think) if you reinstall windows 7 the you install avast and then your software like itunes you will have problems, however if you installed avast after installing all your software everything will work fine.

After many weeks of having reported it the guys of avast have not been able to solve it. right now im using eset.

Staying with older versions of Avast or not...

Many reasons many people stay with older version of Avast, technical issues and such dictate that, however yes i agree the new version is A-Vast improvement over V4.x version, I now have Avast V5 on my wife's pc and our Dell Studio 1737 Media laptop that we use for multimedia in our living room and it seems okay on them, I might try it again on my higher end pc will wait and see but the last time I tried it updating and scans were not up to par, so will have to see later. Anyway "YES, AVAST IS THE KING OF MALWARE Monitoring" I gotta agree for i have used it over 3 years and never once had to reinstall windows due to malware intrusions because it is a great monitor/ remover, Thanks Avast, Thanks Seven7Forums!
