    Best FREE AV out there?

I am looking for a free AV software for my Win7 pc and I was wondering what free anti virus software you guys would recommend. Please provide reasons.

    .
    Since you mentioned AV specifically:

    Panda Cloud Antivirus
    AVG Free Antivirus
    Avast Free Home Edition 5

You can read detailed reviews on pcmag.com as well as comments from users here and at wilderssecurity.com. Note that Avast 5 is nearing the end of the beta phase and v1.0 should be released soon. I'm using a paid solution at the moment, but if I needed a free AV I would try Avast or Panda.

    Edit:

I tried Microsoft Security Essentials when it was in beta. Updates for it are tied to Windows Update and that didn't seem to work well at the time (which is why I didn't put it on my list). If updating works reliably now then it could be a good choice as well. Others can chime in about MSE :)

The one that makes you happy. Yes, a bit of fun, but its true. There will be many different opinions. A lot of people think that MSE is best, and I agree. Its free, works well, small footprint and made just for windows. The choice is yours.
