Welcome back sister,
Which version of paid AVG is it?

AVG Internet Security 9 inc firewall
AVG Anti Virus & Firewall 9
or AVG Anti Virus 9 [ no firewall. ]

Are you able to answer my original questions as well?

It is important to know if your computer came with a preinstalled Anti Virus, if it has been removed, & how, prior to installing AVG.

We are here to help you as much as we can.
Jan.

Click the flag icon in the system tray on the bottom right, choose to open action centre and then click the arrow next to security. Under Firewall, Windows's built in one should be active or one of your installed antivirus app's. There might be link to see the firewalls on your pc - and in this case the built in one should be disabled. As for AVG you can choose to uninstall it, using a removal tool, and then switch to Microsoft's Security Essentials.

Were you aware that sister said that she had the paid version of AVG?
It is uncommon for people to pay for software & then ditch it readily.
