Bunny Rabbit Chases Icon

OK It is a cat which hops like a rabbit.

I cannot test it from safe mode because I have no way to start it.

I ran Malwarebytes from safe mode for all disks, Nothing found.

Avira and MSE also found nothing ( Running from within windows )

I recovered an earlier image but it was there also.

Guess I am stuck with a clean install

As alwinwinjoe pointed to, you should not have both Avira and MSE active as two antivirus programs can cause conflicts on the system. Select one and uninstall the other.

I have in my musty collection of floppies(remember floppies?) a "virus" program that after a certain amount of time a little ambulance runs across the bottom of the screen with flashing lights and a siren. Once it runs it deletes itself. Also I have read jpeg's can contain a virus hidden in them. New wallpaper? could be!

Common guys, we are getting paranoid.
I am not saying that it's impossible, IT IS possible and already has been done.

But it's actually hard hack.
ok, let me explain
Firstly jpeg, jps aren't executables so they can't make any damage themselves.
But it is possible hide the code into it without affecting it's quality much.

So, anyway, For the infected jpeg file to spread on your system and make any changes, it should be executed!
There are two ways, which I can see it can be done:
1. Jpeg file will change it'sextension. It will become excuteble.
But, No. Firstly Jpeg can't change it's extension, just like this. So there should be some activity from another malware on your system or user should change it and execute. (but why?)
And user will notice it.
2. Your system should get infected by another special malware which execute jpeg file. hmm...

So, it's not that common infection. Because it can't do anything itself.
But yes, this technology used in some secret organisation to carry information hidden in jpeg file.

But anyawy jpeg virus wasn't found common on the wild, they are only used for targeted attacks.

But yeah, there is also double extensions.
But, this is your responsibility, as it will be executeble, not jpeg anymore.

EDIT: And nowadays if you keep you OS, image viewer up to date and has DEP enabled. It's really hard to perform.
of course if you do get infected with another malware which executes it, you will get attack, but....
