Anyone know if it is possible to run PrevX 3 with Norton 360 v3?
If not, would I be better of running PrevX 3 or Norton 360 by itself?
Not sure which one offers the best protection. I do a lot of web surfing.
I know Norton AntiVirus 2010 was voted best antivirus for
2009, but Norton 360 is a little different and not sure if it uses
the same engine as 2010.
Any help would be appreciated
Hi, GeorgeB. It depends upon which version of Prevx you mean. The "Free" version only scans and does not remove anything. The "Cleanup" version removes detected Malware, Viruses, Rootkits, Worms, PUPs, BOTs, Spyware and Trojans. Only the "Protection" version includes antivirus software. Thus, you should not use the "Protection" version of Prevx with any other antivirus software.

Prevx 3.0 was built with compatibility in mind - therefore you could safely run Prevx 3.0 alone, but there's really no reason why you couldn't also run another security program alongside if you wished, which gives a deeper and more layered overall protection.

even though it also has A/V-scanning.

If user wants a multiple AV engines, then what better option than using best of available freewares. I'd suggest Avast Home + Spybot S&D / Malwarebytes AM / a-squared Free + Comodo FW / PC Tools FW Plus + ThreatFire (Behavior based detection). Even that's not a good option than got for the best paid defense, G-DATA Antivirus. It has two mighty AV engines build in. Avast & Bitdefender for superior detection & removal. Though, even than, I'd suggest using a specialist Antispyware (Free / Paid) with this for better results.
Yes, I remember the discussion. MBAM, followed by SAS, are still the most commonly used anti-malware software programs used when helping people clean their computers.
Most people who use A2 are using the free version, not the paid. Anyway, when A2 is included in VB and similar tests, I'll reconsider my opinion. :)
