Ive noticed that the senda smile .exe for office 2010 is using less than one meg. It is suppose to use around 4 megs. Also, how come your taskmgr process is using 22 cpu? It is only suppose to use less than 10 megs at most.

Is this perhaps, that the memory optimizer is doing too good a job? Perhaps it is sacrificing the extra cpu usage for less memory usage.

Can you post a picture of a squared catching the eicar test file? I just want to confirm that it is running. Just post a screenshot with eicar test file being caught by a squared along with the task manager right next to it.

Thanks!
eicar | THE ANTI-VIRUS OR ANTI-MALWARE TEST FILE
Hi there, you are using the free version and he is using the paid version.

Edit: eicar test file is something that any damn anti virus will catch.

hi !

Richter: the memory optimizer actually doesn´t optimize anything,
i only use it because it shows the memory usage on it´s statusicon.

"....senda smile .exe for office 2010 is using less than one meg....."

i turned it off ("exit"), that might explain the memory usage, as it´s only the resident process running, not the application.

Dinesh is correct, i´m using the full-version.

and, oh yes, a2 IS working !

i know, because if i go to a certain folder, and try to run some securitytest-programs that i have there, then a2 immediatly warns me about suspected files (virus).

no need for EICAR...

i´m using Firefox 3.6 which has DNS-prefetching, a2 therefore also immediatly warns me when there are suspected links on a webpage, and also automatically blocks those sites.

i know it´s a bit hard to believe, it was hard for me too.
i first thought there also were some other processes running, but after getting confirmation from Emsisoft, i have to acccept the facts: a2 uses less than 1 MB, at least on *MY* computer....

well just out of curiosity, I installed A squared anti malware (paid) to check the RAM usage.
Its fluctuating between 20-30 MB.

Don't know why it takes so much less on your system, hackerman....I think you are the only person reporting this... it must be very frustrating
Besides sevenforums, if you search for a squared memory on google, it shows no good results besides the ones for sevenforums and besides the ones that you yourself posted.
But, Im glad that it works so well for you.

Incidentally, can an antivirus disguise its process with a description that doesn't tell you it is from a squared? something like one of the svchost processes that are access to dynamic link libraries. That would be a large deception from antivirus companies.
