    disappearing files?

Hmmm, so I was going through some old files and getting rid of what I didn't need, and I came across a file w/ unknown ownership, and it wasn't letting me take ownership even though I'm the admin. So I figured "hey... I'll go into safe mode and get rid of it". Well when I went into Safe mode it was gone, so I decided to boot up normally and see if it would reappear. Well, it isn't there, and search isn't coming up with anything. Everything else is fine, but I've never come across a file that vanished before... it strikes me as kind of strange.

Is this a sign of things to come or anything? Could it be a possible threat?

EDIT: I probably should've googled this first, so if I'm just being stupid I apologize

can you remember any details of the file?
name, extension, size, where you find it, icon, program set to open it?

It was an MP3, the title was just the name of the song, which I think I got off a really old CD I have. Windows Media player was set to open it. Size was like 4.3 4.4 mb icon was just the default Mp3 Icon. It was on my desktop. I don't know if the desktop can have hidden files...

Funny thing is none of my other Mp3s had an unknown owner. I don't believe I played the song recently or anything.

And Eset is coming up as everything being clean so that's a good sign I believe.

    that's weird...

can you go into any folder.
    Click on the Organize
And then Folder and search options
    on View:
    1. Choose show hidden objects
    2. Untick hide protected operating system files.

And now look into your desktop can you see it?
(Don't delete anything yet, as you will see some legit Windows files aswell)

All that showed up were two configuration files called "desktop"...

Oh yeah, I should probably mention that I have both the RC and Windows 7 Ultimate loaded (so they dual boot), and this is on the RC. It might just be a problem w/ the RC. It's still weird though...
